Available Mail Lists
The following mail lists are available:

main DR team mail list. Messages sent to this list go to all
team members. This list should be used for announcements that need to
go to all team members. |
Subteam-specific lists are available on demand. If a DR subteam would like a private mail list for their team, contact me at dr-main-owner@dr2005.willebeek-lemair.net.
Subscribing to a Mail List
To subscribe to a mail list, do the following:
- Send a blank e-mail message to list-name-join@dr2005.willebeek-lemair.net, where list-name is the name of the mail list, from the e-mail account that you want subscribed to the list.
For example, if you want to subscribe to the dr-main list from your
home e-mail account, you would send a blank e-mail message from your
home e-mail account to dr-main-join@dr2005.willebeek-lemair.net.
You will receive a confirmation e-mail.
- Reply to the confirmation e-mail.
You will be subscribed to the list and will receive list e-mail to that address. If you do not reply to the
confirmation e-mail, you will not be subscribed the list.
Unsubscribing from a Mail List
To unsubcribe from a mail list, do the following:
- Send a blank e-mail message to list-name-leave@dr2005.willebeek-lemair.net, where list-name is the name of the mail list, from the e-mail account that you want unsubscribed to the list.
For example, if you want to unsubscribe from the dr-main list from your
home e-mail account, you would send a blank e-mail message from your
home e-mail account to dr-main-leave@dr2005.willebeek-lemair.net.
You will receive a confirmation e-mail back.
- Reply to the confirmation e-mail.
You will be unsubscribed from the list. If you do not reply
to the confirmation e-mail, you will not be unsubscribed from the list.
If you need to unsubscribe an
e-mail account that is no longer active, send a note to the list owner
at dr-main-owner@dr2005.willebeek-lemair.net.
Viewing the List Archives
To view the list archives, do the following:
- Point your web browser to:
http://dr2005.willebeek-lemair.net/mailman/private/dr-main_dr2005.willebeek-lemair.net/
- Enter your e-mail address and password, if prompted. See Retrieving_Your_Password for information about obtaining your password.b
Retrieving Your Password
Whenever you subscribe to a
mail list, you are automatically assigned a password. This is not a
terribly secure password; it will be e-mailed to you in clear text
whenever you request. However, it is enough to keep people from
changing your mail list settings on you without your approval. And, you
will need it to access the online list archives.
To retrieve your mail list password:
- Address an e-mail message to list-name-request@dr2005.willebeek-lemair.net, where list-name
is the name of the e-mail list, from the e-mail account you are subscribed to the list with.
For example, to retrieve your
password for the dr-main list, address the e-mail message to
dr-main-request@dr2005.willebeek-lemair.net.
- Leave the subject blank.
- Put the following in the body of the message:
password
end
You will receive your password via e-mail.
Mail List Security
Several precautions have been taken to protect the e-mail addresses of list members:
- List membership (aside from
the initial population of your e-mail addresses) is subject to list
administrator approval. This prevents unauthorized
people from joining the list and collecting e-mail addresses from the
posts.
- The web archives require your personal password to access (see Retrieving Your Password for more information).
- E-mail addresses in the online posts are obfuscated to prevent bots from scraping them from the web.
The combination of all these measures will make it all but impossible
for potential spammers from getting your address from this list.
